SUPER DON QUIX-OTE WALKTHRU

IN-DEPTH GAME STRATEGY

Story: The beautiful Isabella has been taken captive by the evil witch, and it’s up to hero Don Quix-Ote to rescue her. Aided by your trusty squire and faithful donkey, you must make your way across a fierce wilderness of challenges to reach the wicked castle stronghold and save your maiden fair from certain death.

Don races after his kidnapped love.

Game-Play: The gameplay of Super Don Quix-Ote is similar to other animated laserdisc games. On-screen commands (in this case, an aqua-colored UP, DOWN, RIGHT and LEFT ARROW to move a direction, or a GREEN BUTTON to use your sword) appear on the screen, and you must press them as they appear to progress the story. Correctly executed moves will chime an upbeat gonk sound, while incorrect or ill-timed ones emit a buzzing raspberry before sending you off to a death scene. You are given 3 to 5 lives per credit, depending on the game’s default settings. An extra Don is awarded at 100,000 points.

The evil witch schemes from her crystal ball.

Game Stages/Scoring: Some of the key scenes are fixed in the sequencing timeline, while a few others randomly rotate between each game. Scenes are clustered together as groups and only upon clearing them all successfully will you advance to the next set. Otherwise, you’ll go back to repeat scenes that you died on at appropriate level checkpoints. I’ve made notes of the scenes that are linked together, and which ones may appear in different positions. Additionally, there are alternate moves scattered throughout the game. These are special moves that can be subsituted for optional directions or sword buttons pressed, and they give higher point values when performed (an extra 10,000 each, to be exact). You can reach well over 700,000 by the game’s end when using them. Additionally, each stage you clear without mistakes awards further bonus points to your score.
